Many people would love to opt for an alternative to Mercedes-Benz dealerships but are often unable to do so, concerned of poor quality and untrained technicians. One of the primary concerns has always been whether or not a service station or a company that is not directly affiliated to the German car maker would have facilities that are state of the art. Somehow, a perception has existed that dealers would be able to offer the desired quality of service by the virtue of its affiliation and being in the knowhow of what the problems and solutions are.

Southwest Auto can offer you better services that you would expect from even the best Mercedes-Benz dealerships and among the many reasons that make it possible, here are just three of them.

Factory Diagnostic Equipment

The facility is always the most important aspect. Even the finest technicians cannot do a good job if they are not equipped with the right tools. Southwest Auto has the Mercedes-Benz factory diagnostic equipment that are typically used by the dealers and even at various stages while your car is manufactured in the factory. This state of the art facility with all necessary equipment, makes diagnosing and solving problems possible. Serving clients with the best experience that you can get.

Trained and Certified Technicians

Training of technicians is extremely important. Most professionals and well known service companies in the auto industry have trained staff. What is most important is that the training be substantiated with certifications and recurring training. The auto industry changes dynamically and unless the technicians are given hands on training to update their skills and knowledge, newer cars cannot be serviced.

Professional Service Staff

Professionalism is not a given at Southwest Auto it is part of our company’s culture. Whether you look for a consultation, call in for an estimate or wish to simply know more about the company or its Mercedes services, every stage of your association with Southwest Auto’s service staffs will be professional.

The family owned and operated Southwest Auto prizes its timely service at prices that cannot be matched by Mercedes-Benz dealerships.

Beginning in 2007 all cars in the US are equipped with a TPMS to report low tire pressure. This system is designed to save fuel and alert the driver in time to avoid expensive tire failure due to low air pressure. Low tire pressure or over inflation can cause premature and abnormal tire wear. Even if your tire does not visually appear low on air it is important to check tire pressure when the TPMS light is on.

Tire pressure should be set by referencing the sticker in the drivers’ door jam of your vehicle. This is the pressure your vehicle’s TPMS system will be calibrated for, not the pressure of the tire sidewall markings.

Individual sensors located in each wheel are powered by non-serviceable batteries and continuously report pressure. If you see a “Tire pressure system service required” message displaying, you may have one or more sensors requiring replacement.

We have the required equipment to activate and program these sensors. Call us today to keep rolling. We can communicate with and diagnose your Audi, BMW, MINI, Mercedes, Saab, Volvo & Volkswagen TPMS System.

Does the transmission seem to “slip” and then slam into gear?

Not too long ago the only option to fix these transmission problems involved a budget busting $4,000 replacement (used) or a transmission shop rebuild. We have discovered a solution involving replacing the valve body that has completely fixed many Volvo automatic transmissions, some of which were not drive-able. We now have a solution that can be accomplished in one day at a cost of approximately $1499+tax.

Please call us as soon as you notice these symptoms to determine if this method is appropriate for your car. Southwest Auto is offering this Service to our Dallas, TX Volvo customers.

If so please read this.

If you have cold air out of the dash vents in the morning and after about 20 minutes of driving you notice the air has become hot and humid, and after pressing the A/C off button or restarting the car you have cold air for a while, we have good news. Very likely the compressor clutch needs to be adjusted without the replacement of any parts, this runs $199 to $299 depending on your year and model. We discovered this repair about 5 years ago and have performed this procedure hundreds of times saving our customers well over $100,000. That’s one more classic success story at Southwest Auto.

Standard Factory Recommended Services: Engine Oil Service, Inspection I and Inspection II

Because this manufacturer does not specify a “Severe Service” Interval, the determination of proper maintenance should be left to the good judgment of the vehicle owner and the advice of a service center they trust. Conditions that will change the frequency of composition of Normal Service would be:

Ambient temperature extremes

Frequent driving in dense city stop and go traffic

Operating in dusty, wet or muddy terrain

Repeated short trip operation without sufficient engine warm up

Operating in mountainous/high altitude areas

Trailer towing

Although the manufacturer suggests that the oil doesn’t need to be changed until 15,000 miles, here in Texas, we qualify for the top 2 conditions listed above if not the top 4 and recommend an engine oil service every 7,500 miles with full-synthetic oil. We have seen slugging occur in Minis which have gone too long in between oil changes. This is very similar to plaque in your arteries and can have catastrophic consequences on your vehicle’s engine.
