Southwest Auto Parts Department
Southwest Auto's Parts Department is a bit different. In addition to a huge inventory of new Volvo parts, we stock over half a million dollars worth of premium used parts for Volvo's (1975 and later).

Why buy a used part?
Most of the major components on a Volvo last a long, long time. It follows that the used electrical and mechanical parts we sell have a good hundred thousand miles (or more) of life left in them. Considering savings of 50%-70%, it starts to make a lot of sense. For years we've been selling and installing them for very satisfied customers. It works quite well.
When should I buy a new part?
You should buy a new part when the investment in labor is much greater than the savings you would get from buying a used part. A good example of this is a blower motor in a Volvo 240. Spending an extra fifty dollars is cheap insurance against potentially having to spend big time or money to retrieve a failed motor.
Engines Used-
Southwest Auto has a stock of good, tested used engines to fit most Volvo applications. Our engines are stored indoors and inspected carefully prior to shipment. Except when specified by us, all used engines carry a one-year, unlimited mileage warranty. Rebuilt- Our rebuilt engines feature new pistons, rings, bearings, seals, oil pumps, water pumps, gaskets and timing belts. All parts are machined to Volvo specifications and reassembled per factory guidelines. And unlike other builders, we'll build the engine up as far as you want- including turbochargers, intake and injectors, as well as all the sensors. Our rebuilt engines carry a one-year, unlimited mileage warranty.

Transmissions-

Most of the Volvo's on the road use the AW70 series transmission. This is simply one of the best automatic transmissions ever made. Kept cool and clean, these transmissions routinely go a quarter of a million miles. All of these used transmissions shipped by Southwest Auto have new front and rear seals installed, as well as new tail shaft bushings when necessary. They carry the same one-year, unlimited miles warranty as our new and rebuilt engines. Volvo used a German-made, ZF brand transmission in some of their models. Sometimes these transmissions went the distance, but more often failed too early. Southwest Auto can provide you with all the components you'll need to convert over to the AW series. The price is well below that of a rebuilt ZF, and will give years of trouble-free service.

Cooling Systems-
Overheating is on the short list of things that will kill a Volvo. Don't let this happen to your car! Volvo, like most other car-makers, has used plastic-sided radiators forever. These radiators work perfectly, right up until the time the plastic neck snaps off and all the green stuff flies out. If you think you're about due for a radiator, we'll help you select the perfect all-metal replacement. Prices are well under those for the Original Volvo part, and you'll be getting a much sturdier product.
Southwest Auto also stocks thermostats, hoses, belts, control valves and everything else you'll need to keep your Volvo running cool.
Body, Chassis and Suspension-
Being based in Dallas, TX leaves Southwest Auto in a great position to provide you with a huge assortment of RUST FREE body and chassis components. All of our sheet metal is stored indoors and our prices will impress you. Call and let us know if you have any unusual needs (for your car, that is), and we can custom cut rear quarter panels, front cowls, floor pans and rocker panels to your specifications.

Interiors-
It can cost nearly a thousand dollars a seat to recover a single Volvo seat. We stock an assortment of used interiors going back to 1976. For a fraction of the price of re-upholstery, outfit your car with premium used seats, carpets and door panels. Prices start as low as $400 for a set of seats (both fronts and the rear). Door panels start at $30, and carpeting is available for as low as $100!
