At Southwest Auto, we believe that trust, transparency, and integrity are just as important as technical skill. For more than three decades, our family has proudly served the Dallas community with dependable automotive sales, repair, and maintenance services — built on the same family values that started it all.
Our story begins long before there was a storefront or even a business plan. Our dad, Jon, has always had a passion for cars and an instinctive understanding of how they work. As a teenager, he spent countless hours in his parents’ garage restoring and repairing vehicles, often surrounded by friends who came to him for help. Our mom, MaryJane, was there from the beginning — sitting on a stool nearby, watching him tinker and cheering him on.
After years of working at MOSTEK and buying and selling cars on the side, Jon decided to take a leap of faith — encouraged by MaryJane, who knew his talent and passion were too strong to remain a hobby. In 1988, the two launched Southwest Auto right out of their home. Inventory was rotated through a local grocery store parking lot, and business was done around the dining room table. It was a true family operation from day one — even when our mom went into labor with JulieAnna while a couple was in the middle of purchasing a car.
As word spread about their honesty and reliability, customers began asking for help finding a trustworthy place to service their vehicles. After hearing one too many stories about disappointing experiences at other shops, our parents decided to create a better solution. In 1994, they opened their first service facility, expanding Southwest Auto to include repair and maintenance services. Their goal was simple: to provide customers with a dependable, transparent, and customer-focused alternative to dealership service.
Over the years, that goal became the foundation of who we are. Today, Southwest Auto is known across Dallas as a dealership alternative for European vehicle repair and maintenance, with emphasis in Volvo, Mercedes-Benz, and Sprinter models. We take pride in offering dealership-level expertise with the personalized service and honesty of a family-run business.
We — Kristie and JulieAnna — grew up right alongside Southwest Auto. From the time we were kids, business was a part of our daily lives. Dinner table conversations often revolved around customers, repairs, and new ideas. Our parents always included us, encouraging us to share opinions and learn what it meant to run a business with care, humility, and integrity. They’ve always said Southwest Auto wasn’t just theirs — it was ours, too.
As adults, we found our own paths within the business. Kristie, a graduate of Texas A&M University with a degree in business, discovered her niche in accounting and now manages all financial operations for Southwest Auto. JulieAnna found her calling in operations, working closely with our front office staff and technicians to ensure that every process, repair, and interaction upholds the values our parents built the company on.
Now, nearly four decades later, Jon and MaryJane are preparing for a well-earned retirement, and we are honored to continue their legacy. This next chapter — transitioning from family-owned to daughter-owned — represents not only continuity but growth. We are committed to carrying forward their vision while embracing innovation, new technology, and continued excellence in customer care.
